GOOD NEWS

MEMBERS OF RIVERSIDE UNITED CHURCH

Dear Friends:

I only hope that you can read my writing.  Thank you once again for dedicating a refrigerator in the church kitchen in my honour.  To my knowledge I am the only minister in Canada who has had a refrigerator dedicated to him and this very rightly makes me famous.  I intend to make a personal visit to the kitchen everytime I visit Riverside to check on my personal memorial.

On the serious side, it is always a joy to conduct worship at Riverside and once again I wish you every success in the future with your new minister.

                                                       Sincerely,

                                                       Rev. Don Hansford

On Sunday, Nov. 1st, 2009 United Churches from around the city, met at the Serbian Centre for a combined worship service.  The hymns and choirs were very upbeat. We had the pleasure of having Nora Sanders, General Secretary of the United Church of Canada, as our speaker.  The message from the guest speaker started me thinking as to whether we are ready to open our doors and hearts to others.  In order for us to continue the
journey of spreading the word of "God" we have to be willing to accept the views and practices that surround us. A lovely luncheon was enjoyed by all after the service, giving us the opportunity to speak to Nora Sanders.
