Dear Friends,
The Christmas story is about arrival and departure if you think about it at all. Christmas is Messiah, Jesus, the anointed Saviour coming to dusty earth and departing glorious heaven. It is about family, experiencing the good and the unthinkable; the longing for children and the shock of the announcement of pregnancy, not once but twice in a family! It is about taxes, and the unreasonable demands of government and employers. It is about being denied ordinary shelter and common courtesy. It is about going about your daily job and refusing to recognise the spectacular, God, salvation coming to earth. It is about God grabbing our attention with lights, angels and supernatural events. Every emotion in the human range is expressed in this story: rage, love, fear, awe, worship, disbelief and joy. The hearts and lives of ordinary people are transformed as the story unfolds. People have been changed by this single event in history for over 2000 years. In your Christmas celebrations |

this year, it is time to let the telling of the story unfold in your life and family. Allow the love of God and Christ to impact and transform your life. Spend time with your family this year. Spend time with your Saviour. Take time to re-read the Christmas story in the Gospel of Luke chapters 1 through 3.This story that has made men weep and children laugh can and will change your perspective, if you allow it. This story will give you new life, hope and purpose. It will lead you home. It will instruct you on family life and a Godly way of living. It will bring an awe, wonder and excitement to you. And you will be challenged to new heights. And did I mention gift giving? There is one gift you can afford this year. It is the gift of Jesus Christ, Saviour, and Friend. Riverside Church has many opportunities to sing, laugh, rejoice and share. We would love to have you join with us! May all the wonder and blessing of this season infuse your life with peace, joy and contentment.
